Balkh University Lecturers

Balkh University lecturers are participating in a training program on e-learning and blended education on July 18-25, 2009. e-Learning is defined as:  effective teaching and learning where students learn from traditional face to face interaction, as well as global engagement, complimented by physical and digital content. This definition assumes:

  1. a teaching and learning pedagogy that involves presentation, practice, assessment, and review
  2. a mix of learning tasks and activities
  3. a mix of content delivered by a mix of technologies CDs, cell phones, the computer, and the Internet
  4. a mix of lecturers, tutors, facilitators, course coordinators or other students.

By the end of this training program, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain e-Learning/e-Education/blended learning  and why it might be useful for their institution;
  2. Search the web and the Afghanistan Digital library for examples of course syllabus and course materials that are relevant to the courses they are teaching;
  3. Experience ANGeL as an e-Learning management system, from the perspective of being a student;
  4. Design an e-Learning course, with learning outcomes, tasks, and assessment to be uploaded on ANGeL; and,
  5. Upload content for a course that they teaching in ANGeL.

When asked by Farid Taheri, the Afghan eQuality Alliances ANGeL Center team leader why they brought their sons, their individual responses in Dari had a common thread:  Computer is useful and can do every thing that people want and has brought lots of facilities to lives of human beings. Learning of computer programs is necessary for all ages whether young or old should learn this.
